The civil airport at Fairbanks also has a water strip alongside the normal 
paved runway and another strip used in the winter only for ski equipped 
planes. At Fairbanks also, many people live alongside the river and keep 
their float equipped planes at home. Some also have short strips for when 
their planes are on wheels. Aircraft can really earn their keeep in Alaska.
