The market closed higher today, after a morning struggling mostly below
the line and an afternoon of modest recovery.  Some silly reporters made
much of it "starting the third week of gains on the up side."  Hello!
Volume sank to -15% below average.  For the most part that negates any
meaningful interpretation of the day's close.

Guidant is suing suitor J&J to go through with the merger.  Is that any
way to begin a marriage?  Smacks of desparation to me.  I wonder what
THAT means.

Timing Signals:  I don't use or recommend timing signals, but they're
fun to watch.  If I did though, well, I might use something like this.
(Be warned!!  It tends to whipsaw around signal points!)
