Can a standard diskette drive be used if you leave of the front decorative cover? Such a situation exists with my NEC as well but O just left the cover off. The H.P. manual mentions some addon where it flat out states you must leave the front cover off. So it seems :-( Lack of info on the web seems to indicate there are far fewer hardy souls and risk takers as years past. Perhaps I'll see if there's an H.P. newsgroup, I think there must be. I've got two fast CD-ROM drives, two PCI 56K modems, 2 PCI sound cards, memory and drives for cutting edge systems has come way down in price. New hard drives I'll buy anyway plus a CD burner so for me a Pricewatch kit would only lack real memory. The ethernet card Ive got is cool to as it's ISA and will go intoeither the NEC or the H.P. it's in now. Matter of fact as I'm already running an ISA sound card in the NEC were I to move the ethernet card over there I could use an external modem, have all the perks and still have 3 PCI slots available on that machine!!! A special thanks to Jim Holsonback for being thoughtful enough and have taken the effort and time to have sent me the precise cable to hookup the old ISA card to the audio from the new fast CD drive :-) I'm going to keep on the lookout for this older equipment that's becoming cheaply available. Next month ask the landlady how much she wants for one of her 2 spare monitors which she has alreadyoffered me for free. She's just thrilled with the latest and greatest flat screen she's got now and to tell you the truth it does look better than the CRT types I've here. --- MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.43* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:275/311) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 275/311 10/345 106/1 2000 633/267 |
