Recently I've been thinking about installing a home security system.
I'm not sure it is justified.
I constantly hear police dispatchs for "Signal 90" which is the local
code for electronic alarm. I've yet to hear one that was a result of
actual break-in. Most are from home owner error. Judging from the tone
of voice and response from the officers, it seems that they are less
than enthusiastic about responding.
Do these systems work? What do the bad guys think of them? What type
of alarm system is best?
Also, what about motion detecting lights. I know they are very
convenient, but are they good theft deterrents?
From the LEO perspective, what is the best way to avoid theft and then
what is the best way to get the bad guy when he tries to get your stuff?
Thanks,
Ron
