--- Sez LORNE MURPHY to KENNETH NEWMAN ---
Hi Lorne,
LM> Picked up the following today:
 LM> Gong _You_
Almost bought this CD last week, but they finally had _Continental
Drifters_ in stock, so I opted for that instead. Maybe next payday.
 LM> Badger _One Live Badger_
They used to have this LP at a library in these parts. "The Preacher"
was the only song that seemed interesting to me at the time. I recall
a review saying it was somewhat audacious releasing a live album
as a debut, but I thought the mix was sort of weird. Both Tony Kaye's
keyboards and the guitar seemed like rhythm tracks waiting for somebody
to overdub something interesting over the top. Which never seemed to
happen through the five seven minute songs, but the shortest one
was sorta catchy... Nice Roger Dean cover, at least.
LM> Today I almost grabbed The first 2 Pavlov's Dog
LM> vinyls, but had to pass for finance's sake.
So how much money did you save by not buying them? ;-) I didn't
buy PD's _Lost In America_ CD for $14 last week, which I applied
to the $56 needed for a pair of tickets to the Tull/ELP show the day
before my birthday. The in-laws will look after the kids, so that's
probably another $15-20 saved on babysitters... I need all the
justification I can muster to rationalize this expenditure. I did
enjoy the ELP concert I went to in '73 (?) and I never have seen
Tull in concert, so it seems like enough of an occasion...
Approaching forty-one...
