Excuse me, but obviously, you're no artist.  Your analogy makes no sense. 
No aritst (and I'm an artist) "rules" their creation.  In fact,
much the opposite.  We make someehing and it takes on a life of its own,
but a pot, a book, a painting or a piece of music.
