And almost ALL BiDirectional printer cables are fully shielded on EVERY
conductor with a shield around the whole thing. At work, we uses one
at 40Ft!!! with NO problems

This is the IEEE spec, I believe it is 1284, generated in 1999

Thruput in these cables is MUCH higher than regular parallel

I see an entry on Outpost.com (Frys) for a 25ft cable for $45

However at this distance, I would rather consider a Ethernet print
buffer at the printer. Yes, this is can be a bit more expensive, but
if you already have an Ethernet network at the location, a Ethernet
print server can be had, again looking at Outpost.com for as little as
about $40 and in some cases, plugs DIRECTLY into the parallel port on
the printer.

My HP 2230 sites directly on top of the computer (large cubic case) less
than 4 ft from the printer port, yet I use Ethernet for a higher thruput
and high reliability of connection.

Frys is not the only place to look for these certainly as most of the
major computer stores have them.
