I think they are just regular balls, but are not allowed to be kneaded or
warmed or rubbed or anything as the game balls are (which are the
responsibility of the local team).  That's why before a kick-off you will
see the kicker squeezing them.  Likely no difference you or I would notice,
but then that's why we're not paid the big bucks.
