Thanks but turned out I needed to select ANSI instead of VT100 and select zmodem instead of zclobber. Still if I wish to retain a packet I must rename it or Hyperterminal fails to download but _does_ cause a reset of message pointers at the BBS. Packets don't seem to auto-rename sequentially with Hyperterminal. Been a long time since I setup all this sort of stuff and a new machine, operating system and all...
