Apologies for not answering sooner. I have a habit of logging on this board
just after midnight and invariably find that I'm alloted on a few minutes
before mail processing knocks me off.
The weather girl on local TV gave our forecast as (I'm not kidding) "Cold
today, cold tonight, colder tommorrow". The guy on the radio was even more
concise, "Looks cold, feels cold, is cold". -36C tonight. The HIGH for Sunday
is supposed to be -27C (yes...the HIGH).
As for fibreglass...a dilemma. I haven't bought the current stock needed to
finish the RICHELIEU hull but I really should. The hull will be ready for
glassing very shortly and I've promised to have it available for "show and
tell" at the pond this summer. I'm a 100% convert to EPOXY resins and I've
generally used Z-POXY. Given the sheer size of this ship, I've contemplated
getting a large quantity of marine epoxy from a boat supply shop. However,
there doesn't seem to be any major cost saving for amounts below a gallon so
I may end up buying a few Z-POXY kits locally. As for the actual glass cloth:
probably two sources. I haven't quite figured out the final "lamination
protocol" but it will probably include a layer or two of heavy cloth bought
off the roll from a body shop finished with a layer or two of lightweight (2
oz. Sig perhaps) cloth from the hobby store.
