Hi Jim,

I get that same effect with my 512MB PenDrive Pro - if I forget to 
"eject" before disconnecting it. As I have an LVM volume-letter assigned 
to it "U:", as soon as I issue "chkdsk u: /F" from the
command line the 
volume's contents reappear - whether it's formatted FAT/HPFS or JFS.

Did you at any time have LVM volume-letters assigned to your Disk?
