But evolution has produced machines that promote the reproduction of the
genes that guided the construction of each machine. Fortunately for us nice
guys, the most efficient system is mutual co-operation. I am skipping a few
steps here, but that is essentially why there is a taboo (or
"morality" as you call it) on killing each other.

If the ethical argument doesn't persuade you, society has organised laws
and law enforcement that we hope will be more convincing.
