Hi, Bob....
RH> Hmm lets see. We have approx 70 members and 5 instructors. Our field
RH> is located on 3 acres of land nice and close to town, and has been
RH> there for well over 30 years so far.
Thanks for coming back....sounds like your group is a comfortable size,
wish we had more members - we are only 20 in size but growing slowly as
more people become involved - our field is only a year old, located on
a county-owned "soon-to-be-closed" landfill - if the wind comes from the
wrong way, ugh !!! - the site is some 50 acres in size so we fly over a
VERY WIDE range - paved runway is 25x300 ft and grassed runway is
100x600 ft, both are North-South so the afternoon sun is to the pilot's
back - member's ages are 9 to 82, experience ranges from 40+ years to
beginner.
RH> I haven't started building yet! :) When it gets too snowy out come the
RH> skis. :) It really opens up the number of places to fly :) The
Oh yeah, you live up "Nawth" where that white stuff is popular - we get
a light snow about once/year - sometimes it stays for a few hours - and
when it does, it usually is a motorist's nightmare !!!
RH> favourite plane in the hager right now is a sig cougar. There's
RH> something about speed that get me going. :) I have a few on the table
RH> right now, but am hoping to finish up my sig Bravo in time for spring.
RH> I've never had a gas engine so the Zenoah will be a new adventure for
RH> me :) TTYL
I had a Sig Cougar once, enjoyed it immensely - the Sig Bravo should be
a good flyer for you - saw one at the Joe Nall IMAA meet last year - I'd
like to get started on a Sig Spacewalker for my Winter project using a
gas engine - this will also be my first "gasser" - I need something big
and spectacular for the Spring. Keep us posted on the Bravo's progress.
