Bob, at 09:40 on Tue, Oct 25 1994, you wrote to Bill Grimsley ... BL> Henry did write Moon River, and won the Oscar for it. BG> Was Mancini a poof? And what did he do with Oscar? BL> Mancini a poof! I'll smash all his records at once. Was that an intentionally clever ambiguity, or just a stroke of good fortune? I'm still trying to figure out whether you mean to smash all his records immediately, or simultaneously. |-) BL> I saw him interviewed not long before he died, and he seemed to BL> be a very nice man (in his seventies, it seemed). True, Jack had actually toured Oz with Mancini, way back in the late 60s from memory, and although I wasn't fortunate enough to have been able to meet him at the time, I only heard good things about the man. BTW, Jack also toured with Sammy Davis Jr. at around much the same time, and I did get to meet him. Frankly, I found him to be an ill-mannered little man, seemingly full of his own self-importance (although as a 13 year old at the time, my perceptions of him may not have been totally accurate). BL> He knew he only had months to live, and he was hurrying to finish the BL> score of his last show because he didn't want to let them down. I expect that he may also have wanted to be paid before he died. |-) BL> I would like to have an ability like that. After everything else, he BL> seemed to be content with his life's work. This is quite often the case with the truly brilliant creative artists and musicians, too. BG> Oh, I though Katherine Ross was in that film, and the nearest they got BG> to bicycles was when Redford sniffed Katherine's bike seat. BL> You're a sick man, Bill... Why, thank you Bob! I needed some encouragement this morning too. |-) BL> one of the best movies of all time, and you remember only that! Not _only_ that, although it did make the most lasting impression. BL> The bits us human beings remember is the jump off the cliff and the BL> end where they got shot ;-) Sorry Bob, I simply don't Bolivia. |-) Regards, Bill --- Msgedsq 2.2e* Origin: Pearl Beach, NSW (3:711/934.18) SEEN-BY: 640/305 711/934 30163/9 @PATH: 711/934 |
