I guess so!   I'd say a few lines would be able to check file name length 
and invalid charaters...but, why are you worring about this? If you are using 
Open and Save Dialogs or the the other components that let you work with 
files, the user is not going to be able to choose an incorrect filename...if 
they type an invalid name, you'll get an error which you can handle. If you 
are doing things behind the scenes without dialogs, you shouldn't have to 
check for filename validity.  What are you trying to do?
