The problem is that in Britain and I think America the standard of
scientific education is generally very poor, so you have perfectly
intelligent, sober, responsible adults who believe that large numbers of
scientists spend significant amounts of time investigating paranormal
phenomena, because it is unexplained and science's job is to examine the
unexplained.
