SHIT! I updated the available messages on my point setup instead
of on the BBS. I checked the netmail and I notice a few of you
have sent in areafix requests. However, only one of Rod's has
actually got processed so far. So Rod, just send it again and
it should work. Also Bill, you are sending an extraordinary
number of netmail messages. I checked them, and some of them
have an AREA tag in them, and some are genuine netmail. The
problem seems to have only occurred today. Some of them are
coming from 3:640/350.9, and some are from 3:711/934.18. Please
stop doing this, as I've got enough problems already without
getting in trouble for routing echomail (the echomail is all
going to 3:640/350). Actually, uplinks may refuse to route it
anyway, so I don't know if it is going to get there anyway.
The messages are all from you. Also, I noticed you actually
received a netmail message. Perhaps that's what triggered you
off to changing your netmail routing??? Which is interesting,
because I didn't think anyone would have known your netmail
address here. Which could mean that you have accidentally set
up an origin line in another echo with this address in it.
However, I didn't see any evidence of this.
Does anyone know how to set Squish up to stop routing echomail,
as it's something that would normally go undetected for weeks
here?
One thing I forgot to explain was that it doesn't make any
difference to me what echos you get (Bill with your query
about wanting the echos if someone else wanted them). There
is increased connect time to Dave Hatch depending on the
number of echos I collect. Also there is increased disk space
for everyone who collects an echo. But if 3 people collect
MSI, that means there are 3 lots of MSI sitting on the HD.
IOW, there's no advantage really in having other people
collect the echo to get up the numbers (which presumably would
be the case if I was running messagebases).
Also, I found out yesterday that I had changed AUTOFAIL=YES
to AUTOFAIL=NO. IOW I was very lucky to have gone on holiday
without a stuffup, because I am having major troubles with my
AUST_AVTECH messagebase, and Squish abends on me during the
nightly maintenance (or it sometimes does anyway). Normally
the AUTOFAIL makes it carry on without a problem. Fortunately
I was awake at midnight the other day and heard my machine
ring some bells. It's back to AUTOFAIL=YES, so that's a
relief. I should probably keep my point stuff out of the
normal BBS process, but I'm not that far advanced yet. I
guess I need a "start pntproc" or something? If I had
something like that, it would cut down on the downtime at
midnight too, since a lot of the time is spent backing up
important files of mine, and also packing my messagebases,
and that's where I get squish abending - on the messagebase
packing.
BFN. Paul.
