It's there. But a) it must be switched on, and b) it still asks when there is
no 'valid' hyphenatin point.
You didn't say whether it is WP6dos or WP6win ... So ...
WP6 for DOS:
1. Shift-F1, 3, 6 ... switches the 'asking' between 'never',
    'if necessary' and 'always'.
2. Shift-F8, 1, 7 ... enables hyphenation and adjusts the range
inside and outside the right margin where the hyphenation point
_MUST_ be placed. This includes the effects of word and letter
spacing in 3. If a valid hyphenation point can be found auto-
    matically it will be used.
3. Shift-F8, 7, 9, 1 and 6 ... influence the spacing between letters
    and between words.
WP6 Windows: follow the menu items:
6.0: File | Preferences | WP settings | Edit ... See 1. above.
6.1: Edit | Preferences etc. (Yes, WP6.1win differs from 6.0)
Layout | Line | Hyphenation ... See 2. above.
Layout | Typography | Word/Letterspacing ... See 3. above
I hope the translations are correct -- I use the Dutch versions of WP.
