Brazel takes a few scraps of the wreckage found on the ranch, to the
home of his nearest neighbors, the Proctors. He shows them a "little
sliver" of material he can neither cut nor burn. Floyd & Loretta
Proctor suggest he take it into town to show the sherrif. (Randle &

Inside the base hospital, Dennis meets a nurse he knows, and is
confronted by two officers. A red-haired captain tells dennis that he
has seen nothing and heard nothing; if he opens his mouth, they will be
picking his bones out of the sand ( Ibid., also Randle. A Casebook of

Saturday, July 5th Evening.
Military bases along the West Coast have fighters on standby in case
the "Flying Discs" are seen. A few bases in Oregon & Washington have
planes equiped with gun cameras on airborne alert. ( Ibid, p. 163 )

Brazel removes a large, circular piece of debris from the range. He
stores it in a livestock shed about 3 miles north of the crash site. (
Ibid.)

The bodies are sealed into a long crate, which is taken into a
hangar. It is left there overnight, with spotlights playing upon it.
Melvin Brown & other soldiers are ordered to stand gaurd outside.
Brown's commanding officer tries to get a peek, but everything has been
crated & is ready for shipment. ( Ibid.)
