A) Why Did Bush come out with what he did?

No body "just comes out with" something like that..."Gosh it
was a slow news day so I thought I'd just kinda drop that in...."

1) Something about to come out anyway or 2) Pressure from Allies who may
have to come out with the truth themselves & thus it's better if the US
does it first?

B) Once more the senior pols who've sided with the US are being shafted.
Last month it was the Arab pols e.g. the Saudis, Jordanians, Egyptians. Now
it's the Euro-Pols e.g. the  Poles, Romanians,Bulgarians, British etc.

It a case study in "how to lose friends & influence with
people" much like Blair's support for Bush & thus Israel over
their attack on Lebanon.

Bush was careful to actively drop them in it, constantly referring to
information passing to "friends & allies" raising a number of
obvious questions for the Euro-pols to answer to both the EU & their
own electorate.

I wonder if this is why the EU is trying to move forward Bulgaria &
Romania's entry into the EU.

First US prisoners/kidnapees/abductees  are suddenly given full GC
coverage, then the US bans a whole range of previously OK practices &
then they empty their secret prisons (in part one assumes because secret
prisons etc is incompatible with the GC (& other international
law))....

Hummmm......what's coming I wonder. The US's lawyers have woken up to the
fact that they are representing a serial offender?
