Some of you may have noticed I haven't been participating for awhile. This
is one of those tough to write messages because I've been through some
really rough times.

Since late 2004, I've retired from the State of Illinois, divorced Nancy,
started and ended a really dumb (on my part) relationship, moved to
Wisconsin, Minnesota, and (back home again in) Indiana, where I now live.
Because of the dumb relationship, I exhausted one of my retirement plans,
although the divorce was also responsible. I'm in Indiana because I thought
a fresh start among people I know would be helpful. I've found that jobs in
this state are difficult (the Delphi bankruptcy has hurt a lot) and I've
been working at low wages for awhile.

I now know what it's like not having a good benefit package. A recent news
article stated that those with little or no insurance get charged higher
rates than those who have a carrier behind them. I can state from
experience that this is true. The past discussions we've had about the cost
of health are more meaningful to me now. I'm happy to say I'm relatively
healthy, although the depression I've experienced in the past is back, and
I'm unworthy of treatment because of my finances.

Anyone know of a good employer looking for a good employee?
