Correct. Part of the 0.56 package is the "new, improved" GI. After getting
0.53 deinstalled, deinstall the GI itself. (It'll be the other choice when you
first run the app and choose 0.53 to deinstall.) Then start the 0.56 install
again, and it should first install the new GI, then 0.56.

It is a bit of a messy provedure, but that's the author's privilege.
