From the standpoint of the current Administration, that would be a huge
loss. The depressing part of that (likely) result is that it seems to have
been unforseen by the people behind the invasion.

I don't think the Bush people can see that, unless they also see a
faux-American colony being left behind.

What they call "clarity" is a grossly ovesimplified (and
therefore grossly unrealistic) worldview. It appears that W's came from
Saturday morning Westerns on TV, given that his personal maturation
process apparently stopped sometime during his adolesence.
I don't know what excuse his advisors had, except blinding arrogance.
