KR> i assume that you bought your cd rom writer,

No. I haven't bought one. I occasionally do some work for a crowd
which has one. I was helping them out a few weeks ago and it acted
as a memory jogger, so I started filling up my hard-disk. I started
out using it as an opportunity to sort out all of my own code and
tools. Before I knew where I was, I had used up about half a CD.

With this in mind and realising that I couldn't just make copies of
it for everyone (it has lot's of commercial projects on it), I
decided to extend it a bit and to also put on as much tech-ref stuff
as I could find. The first CD will be one for ME to act as a master
backup and quick reload for any project I have worked on. I think
I've got it right. The idea is that within 2 minutes, I can reload a
project and any development or reference tools associated with it.

KR> what happened to the "best of" collection you were going to publish?

I will look at doing that one when I have this one finished. No doubt
much of the tech-ref stuff will be duplicated and I will end up with
some compilers on both CD's, but that won't worry me to much. The
second one will me much more general in nature and as such, I will
be requesting input from any parties interested in contributing.
The idea for that one is to put all the commercial compilers and
libraries of interest in one place. As much tech-ref stuff as we can
find and ditto for public-domain or "otherwise acquired" source code.
I wouldn't expect anyone to submit personal code which they don't
want anyone else to have.

Regards, Brenton
