Hard to fit an aegis on a corvette. Then again what with miniaturization
& the "flat panel look" so evident wrt "stealthy" ships...
e.g. the Daring:

However now the "super-cavitating" torpedoes are a reality (i.e.
a rocket in a bubble) .....a lot of ships are now in the position of having
to "think different" wrt "subsurface missiles".
Russians, Chinese
& Iranians all now have them & Aegis won't help you with them.
My favorite concept is the "sea skimming Drone/subsurface missile
combination" i.e. a fast turbojet (preferably reuseable) unmanned
flying machine + a droppable Shkval.
Possibly the Shkval could porpoise or stay close enough to the surface to
allow radio waves to get through & then the drone acts to help keep the
targeting accurate.
