I installed eCS 1.2 on this Asus A7V880 with 2 GB RAM with no problem, so the
kernel etc. that shipped with 1.2 isn't bothered by 2 GB. IIRC, it is supposed
to be OK with up to 4 GB at least, possibly more, although I don't think any
over 4 GB is seen, let alone used.
PS I think I finally gave Mathematica enough to keep it busy trying to use it
all instead of crashing when it's out of "real" RAM. Yes, somehow
Mathematica
can tell whether it's real or virtual (swap file) and insists on real for some
things. Yes, it's not a good citizen. But it was free, I need something of
that ilk, I was never presented a free copy of the last Maple for OS/2, and
nothing else for OS/2 will do the same jobs -- most unfortunately!
