TA>Ah yes, earwigs; cockroachs with a mean streak (they can nip when
TA>given the opportunity 8-( that also prefer darkness and dampness.
TA>A mix of 1/3 boric acid and corn meal should also cause them to
TA>dehydrate into another world. It is nontoxic to larger life forms,
TA>such as cats and/or children; but I would put in the dark dank areas
TA>under inclosed kitchen sinks, behind bath tubs, down the holes that
TA>pipes travel through floors etc.
Thanks for the idea. I live in an old house where there are so many crack,
and holes, etc. It's going to be a challenge. The summer will be the real
test...when they come out. I first noticed them on our garden corn. Then the
next summer, we found them pouring out of the cracks in our driveway one day
while washing our car. I've never seen so many in my life. When we set up a
tent in our back yard for the kids this summer, it became infested with
them...especially around any window flap area. Needless to say, the kids
never used the tent!
TA>They may have first come in hideing the folds of fresh cut flowers,
TA>(they love my dalhias), garden lettuce, etc.. I now drown all such
TA>likely hideing places in a bucket of water for somewhile before bring
TA>them into the house to prevent bring these nasties in the house.
Good idea! Wish I would have thought of that earlier!
