The US must have known about that in advance. For one thing it shares many
airbases with the Turkish airforce (within Turkey).
The greater question is if the US's assent was one of action (i.e. actively
agreeing) or inaction ("Gosh I wonder where all those Turkish
fighter-bombers laden with air to ground weaponry are going?....oh never
mind....")
