Apparently you would dispense with the hearsay rule in court too. hear=B7say Audio pronunciation of "hearsay" ( P ) Pronunciation Key =3D = (h=EErs) n. 1. Unverified information heard or received from another; rumor. 2. Law. Evidence based on the reports of others rather than the personal knowledge of a witness and therefore generally not admissible as testimony. hearsay adj : heard through another rather than directly; "hearsay information" n : gossip (usually a mixture of truth and untruth) passed around by word of mouth [syn: rumor, rumour] The reason for the hearsay rule is to be found in a bit of the last definition above "mixture of truth and untruth".=20 As the creator of the spec, Intel would be the originator of the statement, and thus the most competent to testify to the meaning of its content. PC World OTOH, would likely be considered an expert, able to testify under an exception to the hearsay rule as an expert were Intel unable to appear to testify. Those of us here on this list are not experts on the PCI Express spec, and can only interpret, and possibly misinterpret, what we have found elsewhere. Thus, the better (complete, and absent misinterpretation) answer to the original question will not likely come directly from anyone on this list. By pointing to an original source, and an expert source, I did give an answer, one uncolored by personal (mis)interpretation, and also (arguably) most complete. --=20 "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you."
