Way back when, when they first opened up they seemed pretty good, then they
started slipping and I stopped going. However, I did go back to them a
month or so ago (my usual mechanic never seems very happy about doing
mundane oil changes, so I stopped asking him), anyway I knew it'd had been
awhile since the air filter was changed so I said yes to that and they came
up with the PCV (that's probably what they had for you -- positive
crankcase ventilation) valve which they pointed out was a Motorcraft brand,
so may be the original, so I let them change that too. I didn't let them
upgrade the oil to the "older engine" Valvoline mix though.

Anyway, overall this visit seemed normal again, so I'll probably go back
again -- I don't do the "3K" thing though, the manual says 7.5K
and I do it at about 5K or so.
