  There is a nifty mailing list that I've subscribed to for quite some 
time now, it's called the "Word-a-Day" and it provides a new vocabulary 
word each day, complete with pronunciation, definition, and common 
usage.  In addition there is also a short quote provided with each msg. 
 
  I remember a teacher I had in elementary school that started each day 
with a word of the day, picked at random from the dictionary, this 
mailing list is just the modern day version of that simple exercise.
