1237a6a050ca tech Hello Robert - CA>> If you write your own examples onto a piece of paper as CA>> one-liners and then look at it for awhile you will see CA>> that the amounts of money you are aware of and other CA>> circumstances don't quite fit. No one can run an office on CA>> that amount of money let alone have a family and as you CA>> say if those hours were worked every day ... CA>> Doctors typically work 30 hours per week or less with CA>> Wednesday being the favorite day off for some reason? RS> First, I went to my doctors parking space today. (I walk RS> through his parking lot on my way to and from work every RS> day.) He drives a new white Toyota. A conservative choice for a doctor to drive (maybe it's his 'work' vehicle and the 'benz stays at home till the weekends?). ;-) RS> He closes his office at 2PM on Fridays, otherwise he is RS> there. I see him in our hospital (which is right next door RS> to his office complex, which the hospital leases to him and RS> several other doctors); and I, my wife, and my co-worker's RS> spouce have all been called back by the doctor himself as RS> late as 8 or 9 PM when our calls had been placed to him RS> early in the day. I'm willing to admit that _your_ doctor may be one of the exceptions. I'm also betting he goes home to eat and comes back to the office. RS> I do not know if he has a family or not; but, I see him RS> often enough to know that he his around Monday through RS> Friday. Next time I see him, I'll ask about family. RS> I will also check his parking stall every day to see if he RS> is ever "missing". Doctors have legitimate reasons to be 'missing'. They have to update their skills via seminars (often in Hawaii) and some have patients in hospital they need to drop in and check up on. RS> BTW, he and one other doctor take turns being on call for RS> each other. I always liked the two-of-everything model. That way the 'power' never goes to anyone's head. More business should have 'twins' for everything. CA>> There are probably gov subsidies and even contributions CA>> from a few wealthy people who prefer to remain anonymous CA>> (there are a few who don't brag) that supplements the CA>> dollar amounts you are seeing. RS> My suspicion is that, just like our hospital, those low pay RS> rates are supplimented by charging those who WILL pay, RS> more. It is just looked at as a higher cost of doing RS> business which must be passed on to the customer somehow. I've heard suggestions that this was being done but I really doubt it's that simple. When I think about it I see 'lawsuit' written all over it if it's just different rates for different persons based on 'what?'. Medical insurance companies would have a fit if they thought they were paying for uninsured patients even indirectly. RS>>>>> And, doctors take some pretty big risks. I wouldn't RS>>>>> want to take many of those risks on. CA>>>> With the proper training I would do it in a heartbeat CA>>>> for $450 per hour and people kissing my *ss. Why not? RS>>> A mistake might be too hard for me to live with. CA>> It might be too terrible if I had been a doctor and was CA>> afraid to try? RS> If I felt that the situation was such, I'd have no problem RS> "trying". I'm talking about believing something that turned RS> out to be in error and caused disability and/or death. Similar problem in the military. I'm told that you get used to it. CA>> I would've been a good doctor with that 40/20 vision etc. CA>> and I could've made a difference. I guess those 'talents' CA>> should've found their way to a wealthier family than my CA>> own? RS> I'm sure that your talents were put to good use in other RS> ways. I've never built tooling for weaponry of _any_ kind but I can't say that helping to build automobiles is much of a 'calling'. :-\ I had a chance to work for a company that built artificial limbs but with six kids I couldn't accept their pay scale. I really wanted to do that but just couldn't at the time. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
