I've had sound on the same box. (Assuming you are talking about the PIII
box), but without the SMP. Yes, the ADI driver that came with ecs 1.1.
But, I lost it, and haven't gone through the hoops to reinstall.

Yes the default is uniaud. Checking the IBM website, the chipset is ADI
Soundmax 2, although for the Intellistation no OS/2 drivers are listed
I believe the same soundmax chipset is used in some thinkpads.
So you could download and try the T40 driver at:
