I have tried your code and found the same problem.

In your form_load event you set the option1.value to true 
so the 'Option1_Click'event gets fired and tries to set a focus on the
textbox. 
But form1 is not shown yet..!
try to set a 'me.show' as the first line in the form_load event.

I think thats the problem.
