What on earth does the following mean in mobo specs?

AGP/VGA Slot:  PCI-E x16 (no AGP)  AGP = no AGP?  If there is no AGP why
are they listing it under the AGP spec?

Is one of these PCI-E vid cards something I am going to be ecstatic over
having spent my money for?  To drive my Samsung 17" LCD?  More
important, is this something I soon won't have a choice about?

Lastly and perhaps unrelatedly, what are those slots on mobos that look
like about 1/3 of a PCI slot?
