When you get the V.Everything, here's something that might help you. This is 
what I had to do to get a reasonable amount of mailer connects with the Hayes 
Optima that I was getting the mail from.

When calling out, I use &M5 (drop carrier on non-arq connection). And the 
HAYES OPTIMA is the only modem I had this kind of problem with. It would call 
and connect with /NONE and lockup city.:-)
