JF>The ones actually owned by the post office have no plates at all, None,
>Zip Nada, There is a number painted on the back of the truck (Fleet id
>number) but there is no license plate.
JF>The reason for this is the constution. Congress has the right to
>establish POSTAL ROADS, Thus the post office OWNS the highway. It is
>their property and you don't need a license plate ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY
JF>The second type of USPS truck is the contract hauler. This truck does
>not belong to the USPS but to a trucking company and/or owner/operator
>(For example one of my High School Classmates drives such a truck) and
>it is licensed in accordance with all the laws for commricial vehicles
>in the state(s) it travels in. Same as any other semi, Even though it
>bears the USPS logo under contract.
