You didn't say which platform for FPC, or the error that it is returning; but 
I found that if I open a file with rewrite(), then I can't do a read later 
after a some data has been written and seek()'d too; instead after I had 
rewritten the file and data, I had to do a close(), reset() to clear some 
variables.
What are you trying to do, under what platform, and what is the error?
