To prevent the execution of a mistakenly convicted victim. If the
convict has a long record of prior assaults, it would not bother
me if he was in fact, somewhat less culpable; a thug is a thug, so
execute him.
For crimes of passion, I would prefer to send them to converted
x-military bases, sterilized, and allowed private quarters; allow
them to get on-base jobs, and monitor them so that they cannot be
emotionally involved again.
Send sex perverts there for life; in no case would any minors be
allowed on a base. In both passion and pervert, we usually see a
model prisoner, and in both cases, they make good workers; they'd
be able to work and pay taxes, and be a minimal drag on taxpayers.
