There was a discussion about lead-free solder out here recently, and I
think that somebody (I don't recall who) said they couldn't find any
solder that was lead-free.
I just got a flyer in the mail from a stained glass company, Sunshine
Glassworks. They are advertising a sale on Hirsch brand lead-free solder
in 1/2 pound spools for $4.75 (normally $10.19 per one pound spool).
(sale price good thru November 25, 1995.)
The order number is #31-LFH

Please note--for those who are used to electronics solder with a
flux/rosin core, this stuff is quite different. It has no core, and thus
requires externally applied liquid or cream flux to make it stick and
solder properly. It will require extensive washing and cleaning to
remove all of the flux residue after soldering. But it works GREAT to
fix broken cage welds or build new cages safely.
