Good to hear that WinAmp is good for you!  But you CAN control the
associations.  By default, I think that Winamp always grabs (or
re-associates) the extensions that it needs. You can turn that off.  Go to
Winamp, Options/Preferences.  Look at FileTypes section.  If there is a
checkmark next to "Register Types on Winamp Start", that will explain your
experience.  Remove the checkmark, and remove the highlighting on the
file-extension the list for which you DON'T want Winamp to recognize.
