BG>> Pity that many of them are simply rerbadged Canons then, isn't it? LE>> The hardware is OK, it's just the support which is bad. BG> You'll get no argument from me about that, I'm sorry to say. Living in Australia is really no help either. It has been my experience, without exception, that when dealing with any issue more technical than "where can I buy this box?" and "what does it cost?", you'll save yourself time, money and stress by dealing with the USA. Australian arms of Microsoft, IBM, Canon, Toshiba, CompuServe, and many others, are just money rakers-in. Their support staff know SFA about internal design details of their products, and make it very clear that they couldn't give a rat's ass about getting up and asking the techicians etc in the organization. LE>> I bought a Canon color inkjet a few weeks ago, mainly because it was LE>> cheap. I didn't expect any support out of them (I'm using it in Linux and LE>> OS/2) so I wasn't disappointed. BG> If it ever breaks down, you certainly will be. I've already made about 4x the purchase price out of this printer. If it explodes tomorrow, I return it under warranty. If it explodes in a year's time, I throw it away. LE>> were based on alpha code, with a FileVersion of "1.10alpha1 - Internal use LE>> only. Do not distribute". BG> Presumably written by either MS or a 3rd party. No way did Canon BG> themselves supply those drivers. That, sadly, appears to be beyond those Apparently many hw mfrs contract their drivers these days. Cheaper. -- Lewin A.R.W.
