LE>> you're a programmer, particularly if you 'do' database-y sorts of things, LE>> there is a surprising amount of money to be made from contract work. PE> Can you fill in the detail of contract work available. I presume PE> you are talking about going through one of the contract agencies PE> advertising in Tuesday's Australian, or is there some underground PE> contract system? BFN. Paul. Neither. I am referring to completely freelance contract work. In the last six months, I've seen (thinks...) fourteen former clients, one former workmate and two distant acquaintances start small businesses this way. The jobs they perform are a little more diverse than JUST database programming, but they are MOSTLY database programming; at least, that's what they advertise. However their clients do get them to do other things; install new hardware, run network cables, etc. "while they're there". A $50 advertisement in one of the cheaper swapmeet rags will get good results. -- Lewin A.R.W.
