It looks like something did happen.  
Oh -- how do we know that the small bodies were not humans?  Perhaps
midgets or dwarves or whatever, but quite human?

Who, yes.  But also why, if nothing happened.  Something odd happened there
in '47, and it's still embarassing.  This suggests trongly that while no obne
then involved remains in government service, there are in existance today
some results of whatever happened.
