Patti, I confess. I am not aware of any graves on the east-side of the
property. I have driven down the east access road a couple of times, and
don't remember seeing any. That could very easily mean that because I was
not expecting to see them, I missed them.
The main reason I am taking the Indian_Affairs echo is because Lawrence has a
pretty good sized population of Native Americans both at Haskell Indian
Nations University and at the University of Kansas. It turns out that
American Indians constitute one of the largest identifiable ethnic minorities
at KU.
I promise to take some time in the next couple of days and see if I can spot
anything. I have a Kansas Facts book compiled by the Midwest Research
Institute and the Capper Foundation of Topeka. It has a LOT of cultural
highlights in it.... but no mention of a famous gravesite at Haskell.
