Hi, Rod.

RS> BL> Isn't that normal? If you zip a file ten times you get ten subtly
RS> BL> different zipped-sizes, all with the same CRC. It's a bloody nuisance,

RS> FM> Are you sure about that? Ten different
RS> FM> times with the same h/w & s/w congig?

RS> BL> I checked it again and Paul is right. But I tested it once before when
RS> BL> I was writing a QWK reader trying to use the zipped size to identify
RS> BL> the QWK packet... and I kept getting a different size. God knows why.

RS> FM> I think OLX uses a similar strategy, but probably records
RS> FM> the size after re-zipping so it doesn't run into that problem.

RS> It doesnt rezip QWKs at all normally. And that quote of Bobs at the top

Yes, I was thinking of it automagically identifying QWKs even though you
change the name.

RS> is clearly talking about repeated ZIPs producing the SAME CRC on each too.

Yes, which it does.

Regards, fIM.
