My reservation is that for every innocent executed by the state, 
there are countless more killed by convicted murderers while they 
are in prison with the lifers.  I would try to identify those who, 
having already murdered, are likely to do so again, and execute. 
 
The innocent executed by the state that have been identified were 
not career predators, and would not fit the above profile.

 I have a Socratic view of justice, and find it much too poorly 
defined to seek in a court of law.  Do we sentance because he'd 
been deprived, and that made him depraved, or because he was, in 
fact depraved, and his deprivation was his own fault?  No. Fact 
is, either way, he is depraved, and depravity is dangerous to any 
he might come in contact with.
