Not exactly.  The modem I purchased literally "came apart" in the hands
of the clerk.  Prior to that, a friend who is also a sysop spent hours
trying to figure out why it wouldn't work.
She finally dug some sophisticated software out of a dark hole and found
out that the modem, just purchased a day or so before, was faulty.
AND, a piece of it came off in the clerk's hands when I went in to get
my money back.  They really couldn't say that it was in great shape!
