Ed,

Now I am a little confused.  Are you saying that it is not AC97 or it is 
and Uniaud does not support the chipset you referenced?  At boot up and 
with rmview it says:  INTEL 8280 1BA-ICH2 with Analog Devices AD1885.

As an aside I thought I might be able to change the irq if I disabled 
one or both of the com ports.  When I tried this the uniaud driver would 
not load complaining of some type of name error.
