Tim, we're both right. Yes, Technics is a branch of the Panasonic family
tree. But the name of the corporation that makes Panasonic is Matsushita. You
can see their triangular trademark on components found in equipment made by
many other companies. For example when Garrard came out with a direct drive
turntable way back in the seventies, if you opened it up you would see a
Matsushita circuit board and motor.
By the way, the company seems to have a handle on its quality control. No
matter what they make, it holds up well. A magazine in the States that rates
all kinds of consumer goods, Consumer Reports, consistently gives Panasonic
items high marks for reliability. Maybe I should own stock in the company.
